Sketches Update June 30th

I'm really bad at updating this blog. Here are a few scraps I gathered from my office today.

The Story of One-Eyed Ophelia Jackson

My thesis film, "The Story of One-Eyed Ophelia Jackson" is now available to be viewed online! Visit Cartoon Brew TV to check it out.

A few more color tests

This will be the last of my thesis related posts for a while. Thank you, everyone who came up to me after the screening to tell me how much they liked my film, it definitely made my night. For those who didn't get to see it, I might post it on YouTube somewhere in the near future.

More Layouts

I'm trying to figure out a quick and dirty way to color this film. It ain't quite there yet, but we'll get it together somehow. Thanks to Jake Armstrong for layout help.

More Color Tests

The first three were done in Flash (using a tablet - maybe it'll look better with a Cintiq?) and the last is a scanned drawing colored in Photoshop. Thoughts?

In Progress

Currently animating.

Sketches and Layouts

Having barely animated a single scene so far, one could say I'm rather behind at this point.

Color Tests

Trying to figure out the final look of this film.

More Storyboards

Still storyboarding. I've never had to revise this much, it's fun.

Thesis Sketches

In the storyboarding phase of my thesis, things aren't going too well thus far, but I haven't been trying my hardest, either. Oh well.

Ophelia and the Witch

More character sketches I've been meaning to post.

Sample of Thesis Storyboards

Not the entire set of boards, but these are my favorites. The story is about a sailor with a gambling problem who loses her captain and her right eye to a sea witch.

Discarded? Character

A character who no longer seems to fit in the story. But there's still hope.

One-Eyed Ophelia Jackson

Probably the main character of my thesis film. Now all I need is a story.

Still floating

I still have "The Seven Ravens" as the back-up story for my thesis film, but I really want to come up with a story of my own. So far, I've got nothing, so instead I doodled part of the penultimate scene of "Ravens" in Crayola marker.

Thesis - Seven Ravens

It's never too early to be completely terrified of senior year. These sketches are character designs/brainstorming sessions for an adaptation of a fairytale by the Brothers Grimm, The Seven Ravens, which may or may not be my thesis film.
